7 Quick Takes Friday

I got to watch the second episode of Sherlock again on Sunday and I enjoyed it more the second time around since I was able to watch it all of the way through instead of having to do it in pieces. It is still my favorite Sherlock episode out of all three seasons :)
My mother, Yavi and Amanda started watching Downton Abbey season 4 on Sunday. I am only really watching it for the grandma because she is my favorite character.
On Monday the college that Yavi, Amanda and I go to had a snow day because it was incredibly cold (-2 degrees during the day and -17 in the evening) and windy. This is what it said on the Weather Channel about Monday: "Bitterly cold. Partly cloudy skies with gusty winds. Dangerous wind chills as low as -25F. High -2F. Winds WNW at 20 to 30 mph." Tuesday was a snow day as well because it was still really cold, though not quite as cold as Monday was.
Anyone remember the blanket that I had said that I was making??? If you don'r that is okay because the blanket no longer exists. Well it does I just took apart the one that I was making and put all of the yarn into nice balls so that I could use a different blanket pattern. The pattern I am using (Textured Afghan) is from the book "I Taught Myself Knitting" though it can be found online as well. I was originally going to use this pattern, but then I changed my mind and went to the Textured Afghan pattern.

As of the beginning of this week we have the first look at Peter Capaldi's outfit for the Twelfth Doctor.

Knitting Project

I was originally going to do a post about the really cold weather that we are having but then I changed my mind. Since you have probably heard me talk about making this hat for a little while now I have decided to share the finished project.

The hat pattern that I used can be found here and the flower pattern can be found here.

7 Quick Takes Friday

What life is like after finishing the newest episodes of Doctor Who and Sherlock and waiting for more.

Even thought the March for Life was this past Wednesday over the weekend (of the 18th and 19th) thousands of people joined in the Marches that were held in in Wyoming, Syracuse, Cincinnati, Maine, Vermont, Ft. Wayne, Green Bay, Iowa, Chicago, El Paso, Dallas, Birmingham, Delaware, and Paris. Though I wasn't able to go to the March for Life in my state this past weekend I heard that I lot of people went to it. I also heard that there was 40,000 people who Marched for Life in Paris, France, which is amazing!

Last week the basketball team that TJ is on won their first game, which was exciting!! the final score was 30-18. I would post a picture but I didn't bring my camera with and I don't know if my dear mother has done anything with the ones that she took at the game.
Though there wasn't instructions on how to make the top part I really like this idea and I want to try it at some point.

Amanda, Yavi, the parents and I have been watching Season 3 of Sherlock lately! There will be some spoilers so if you haven't seen any of the episodes yet don't read past here. If you have seen all three episodes than you may continue reading.

In the first episode my favorite part(s) was when John, Mary and Sherlock kept getting kicked out because John would hit Sherlock. The second episode was my favorite out of the three. And the best line was when John said "He's cluing for looks." As for the third episode, I thought it was interesting and I didn't care for it much, though it was still a good episode.
One of the best parts of the entire movie and one of the reasons why I love Olaf :)

Do You Hear the People Sing!

Even though I won't be able to make it to the March for Life this year I think everyone who is going should do this!

7 Quick Takes Friday

College has been going pretty well so far and I have been able to keep up with homework this week. On Wednesday I signed up for a gym membership at the fitness center that the college has, not to mention I still get a work out when I have to get to math class because it is on the opposite end of campus from where I park and it is a decent walk there. Getting to my English GSD classes isn't that bad since they are pretty close to each other.
On Pinterest I found a Character Name Generator that a friend of mine had pinned to one of her boards. So now I have a new way of creating names for characters when I write stories :)

I found this pattern for really cute looking fingerless gloves on Pinterest! Whether or not I actually get around to making them is another question. But I do like the color of the gloves in the picture.
For the past week or so my sister Yavi has been doing a 30 day Disney Challenge on her blog and I enjoy reading what she comes up with for each day. If I don't end up doing the challenge on here at some point I might do it on Tumblr (but I will share the links here if I do).

Since we are on the subject of challenges a while a go I came up with a cute-ish month challenge like idea. And for an entire month I post a letter of the alphabet each day and I was going to talk about one to three different topics that begin with the letter for the day. Because there are 26 letters in the alphabet I decided to do what I am calling the 26 Day Alphabet Challenge during February since it is the shortest month of the year.

Any one remember this back pack that I made back in August?????

If you don't that's ok, because it no longer exists...........The reason why the backpack no longer exists is because I decided to take it a part, since I never used it, and use the yarn for something else. And the something else that I am making with the yarn is a hat. The pattern that I am using can be found here. Once the hat is finished I will post pictures, I might post pictures of the work in process as well.

7 Quick Takes Friday

The Arctic weather that we had at the beginning of the week was a lot of fun. Especially since one of the pipes in our laundry room frozen and then burst, but we were able to take care of that quickly and we still have water in the rest of the house.

On the 4th I threw a surprise party for Yavi. We had a lot of fun and Yavi enjoyed herself. And this is what happens when your younger brother gets a hold of several blow thingys.

For over a year or so the Fairy Tale Novels Forum has been having a fun campaign to get new members and to promote the forum and Regina's books, the goal was to get up to having 1,000 members by the anniversary of the starting of the forum or when we reached 1,000 members (there is 1,023 members now). And I came in third place for the contest, I was surprised when I found out because I wasn't expecting that and I had kind of forgotten about the contest. When I get me prize I will do my best to take a picture and post it here :)
Monday starts my first day of college. This semester I am taking math, English and a GSD class, which should be interesting. In next weeks 7 Quick Takes I will let you know how my first week went.
This week and last week Yavi, my mother and I have been catching up on the Once Upon a Time episodes that we missed as well as watching the first two episodes of Sherlock season 3 :) Episode 2 of Sherlock is probably my favorite episode.

Happy Feast of the Epiphany!

We three kings of Orient are
Bearing gifts we traverse afar
Field and fountain, moor and mountain
Following yonder star

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy Perfect Light

Born a King on Bethlehem's plain
Gold I bring to crown Him again
King forever, ceasing never
Over us all to reign

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light

Frankincense to offer have I
Incense owns a Deity nigh
Prayer and praising, all men raising
Worship Him, God most high

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light

Myrrh is mine, its bitter perfume
Breathes of life of gathering gloom
Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying
Sealed in the stone-cold tomb

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light

Glorious now behold Him arise
King and God and Sacrifice
Alleluia, Alleluia
Earth to heav'n replies

O Star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to Thy perfect light

7 Quick Takes Friday

Since this is my first 7 Quick Takes Friday post of the year I decided to start this weeks off by saying that I officially have bought all of my books for school!! Now I just need to get binders and the rest of the things that go with it (except for a backpack since I already have that).
New Years Eve we went over to a friends house to celebrate (it was combined with the cast and crew party for the play that four of my siblings were in at the beginning of December). We had a lot of fun. At midnight we all went outside and banged on a couple pots and blew on horns. One of the dads set off a couple small fireworks.
TJ's first basket ball game of season is tonight and Rosebud's first game is tomorrow!! I shall try to remember to bring my camera so that I can take a couple pictures of both of them playing :)

Even though it's not December anymore I decided to include the December issue of Ink and Fairydust in here :) I have a couple articles in this issue as well as a couple pictures :) You can read it here and the website can be found here. Ink and Fairydust is also on Facebook (Ink and Fairydust) and on Twitter (@inkandfairydust) so be sure to follow it on both sites :)
New Year's Resolution
